A Texas grand jury handed down eight indictments in the sausage sodomy case where five Texas volunteer firefighters allegedly sodomized a male firefighter with a chorizo sausage. A woman who allegedly filmed the sexual assault with her cell phone, and the chief and assistant chief accused of covering up the assault, have also been charged.

Cornyn Holding Hearing on Rape Kit Backlogs; Democrats Complain About Committee Name

When Senate Republicans changed the name of the Senate Subcommittee on the Constitution, Civil Rights and Human Rights to the simpler Subcommittee on the Constitution this past January, Democrats pounced, claiming that the name change meant that Republicans did not care about civil rights or human rights. Wednesday, the Subcommittee, led by Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX), will hold its first official hearing on a human rights issue that should be supported by Democrats: the testing of the nationwide backlog of rape kits.

Police: Rape, Sexual Battery at ‘Sun God’ Festival at UC San Diego

The University of California San Diego Police Department reported on Friday that one case of rape and one case of sexual battery had occurred during the university’s Sun God Festival on May 3, according to the UCSD Guardian. That followed Monday’s news of the chairman of UCSD’s Visual Arts Department defending a class in which students were encouraged to take their final in the nude, as reported by local ABC 10.

’93 Members of the CA Legislature Have Never Had Sex’

Syndicated columnist George Will told the inaugural “Disinvitation Dinner” of the William F. Buckley, Jr. Program at Yale that “93 members of the California legislature have never had sex.” Will was referring to the fact that 93 legislators in the California Senate and Assembly voted to pass last year’s SB 967, the so-called “yes means yes” or affirmative consent law, which requires students at state-funded colleges to obtain permission from each other for every stage of sexual contact.

Sexual Assault of Volunteer Firefighter with Sausage Leads to Arrest of Texas Fire Chiefs

A chief and assistant fire chief were arrested by Texas Rangers Thursday for tampering with witnesses in connection with the Waxahachie Volunteer Fire Department sexual assault case. Five firefighters were arrested earlier this week for charges of sexually assaulting a new recruit with a chorizo sausage. A woman, who is not a firefighter, was arrested and charged for videotaping the act with her cellphone.

Five Texas Volunteer Firefighters Arrested for Using Sausage to Sexually Assault Man in Video

Five male volunteer firefighters from Waxahachie, Texas have been arrested for sexually assaulting a new recruit with a chorizo sausage. Affidavits state the man said the firefighters initially tried to assault him with a broom stick. The event was videotaped and according to WFAA-TV, an affidavit states the video shows the firefighters “yelling and laughing with excitement.” The television station reported that the Texas Rangers are calling it a hazing incident.
