Border Patrol officials in the El Paso Sector announced that construction of a new section of border wall began on Saturday. The new four-mile section of road will replace existing fencing near downtown El Paso.

ICE: Large Weapons Cache Seized En Route to Mexico

Federal law enforcement officials say a large weapons cache seized in the Texas border town of Laredo was likely heading to Mexico. Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) agents and other law enforcement agencies teamed up to stop a large quantity of semi-automatic weapons, ammunition, and ballistic armor from being smuggled to Mexican drug cartels in Nuevo Laredo.

Assaults on Border Patrol Agents Drop 17 Percent Over Last Year, Says Report

Assaults on Border Patrol agents fell by 17 percent this fiscal year when compared to the same period last year. This is the first time since 2014 where the numbers fell from one year to the next. The decrease appears to coincide with announcements from the Justice Department that assaults on Border Patrol agents will be aggressively prosecuted.

19 Migrants Abandoned by Smugglers in Arizona Desert

Border Patrol agents in southern Arizona prevented the deaths of 19 illegal immigrants after human smugglers abandoned them in the desert on Sunday morning. BORSTAR agents provided emergency medical assistance to one of the men who had to be transported by air ambulance to a hospital. Seven other migrants set off an emergency beacon prompting their rescue and 11 were found wandering lost in the desert.

Two Sex Offenders Arrested Crossing Border from Mexico

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers arrested a Texas man who is on the Texas Department of Public Safety’s (DPS) “10 Most Wanted Sex Offenders List” as he re-entered the U.S. from Mexico. One day earlier, Border Patrol agents in Arizona arrested another previously deported child sex offender who illegally crossed the border into Arizona.
