MSNBC’s Chris Matthews’ ratings collapsed last week, falling behind even Headline News’s (HLN) Jane Velez-Mitchell.

On May 1, Matthews’ Hardball earned a sparse 83,000 viewers, a distant fourth place, in the important 24-54 demographic. In his 7PM slot, Matthews fell far behind Fox News’s Greta Van Susteren, who had 286,000 viewers, and CNN’s Erin Burnett, who saw 94,000 viewers. Even HLN news reader, Jane Velez-Mitchell, earned 95,000 viewers.
