A Danish, radical-left pro-immigration group has paid to take out adverts in a number of foreign newspapers encouraging asylum seekers to come to the country. In doing so it apologised for its government’s efforts at border control.

The Welcome to Refugees group started a public campaign to raise money for the stunt after the Danish government cut welfare payments to immigrants and announced it would be placing adverts in newspapers in the near East ‘advertising’ the cut. The government campaign was inspired by revelations that people traffickers were presenting their ‘customers’ with comprehensive ‘benefits brochures’ giving them the ability to select which European nation they wanted to be struggled to, based on what benefits are available.
The government newspaper ads are to form a counter-propaganda narrative to discourage asylum requests, but the citizen action group has beaten them to the punch, first by putting adverts in national newspapers and now the British pro-immigration Guardian.
Some at least were delighted by the appearance of the advert in Monday’s edition:

Apologising for their own government and reaching out for yet more mass migration, the advert reads:
“The Danish government has announced a controversial scheme to deter refugees. Minister of Integration, Inger Støjberg, is planning an international newspaper campaign to advertise the imminent tightening of conditions for refugees in order to stem the influx of people seeking asylum in Denmark.
“The aim is to deter refugees from coming to Denmark in the first place.
“But we’re not all like minister Støjberg and the rest of the Danish government.
“Many of us are bidding refugees a warm welcome. And many of us want to help those who are fleeing torture, bombs, and persecution.
“We do not believe that families in war-torn countries should learn that a Danish cabinet minister is planning an adveritisng campaign based on the ill-conceived and erroneous logic that families calculate where they may profit the most from settling as refugees.
“Not in our name! So, dear fellow human being, there is another voice in Denmark – a voice representing peace, solidarity, and human decency.
“That’s why we extend a warm welcome to Denmark and denounce the government’s scare tactics.”
The collective hopes to run an advert in Germany next – if they can raise the money first.
Angry leftist campaign groups aren’t the only people who have lashed out at Denmark’s new government over their plans to try and discourage immigration by replacing unemployment benefit with ‘integration benefit’ only paid in full if the migrant learns Danish. Angry leftists at the United Nations have also made their objections known in a 12-page angry letter this week.
Referring to the 1951 United Nation convention on refugees, the UN Refugee Agency complains that paying a different benefit to newcomers is contrary to the agreement, which states refugees should expect the same treatment as nationals, reports TheLocal.dk.
