Nolte: New York Times Celebrates Homophobe Joy Reid as Anti-Trump ‘Heroine’

Joy Reid, MSNBC’s weekend morning anchor, won a glowing profile in Sunday’s New York Times. The 2,000-word hagiography portrays the rabidly divisive and far-left partisan as a “heroine” of the anti-Trump resistance but mentions only in passing the 49-year-old Reid’s indefensible history of homophobia.

While writing for her own site a decade ago, Reid went on a two-year, anti-gay rampage against then-Florida Gov. Charlie Crist, who was not only a Republican at the time, but seen as a likely presidential contender. On at least 11 occasions over two years, Reid attempted to defame and shame Crist (who is straight) as a closeted homosexual pretending to be straight.

In furtherance of her totally fabricated conspiracy theory, Reid repeatedly referred to Crist as “Miss Charlie,” portrayed his new marriage (to a woman) as a sham, and basically used homosexuality and homophobia as a club to humiliate and denigrate the man who would later come out as a … Democrat.

Here are just a few examples.

“Miss Charlie, Miss Charlie. Stop pretending, brother It’s okay that you don’t go for the ladies.”

“Now that he’s married to a girl, Charlie Crist is being sought out for all KINDS of good stuff… [The GOP] are wooing Miss Charlie to run.”

“Miss Charlie … would immediately start planning the state funeral down to the last flamingo-shaped napkin and get his decorator to the West Wing faster than you can say ‘George Takei!’”

“The Florida governor didn’t get tapped by John McCain (get your mind out of the gutter! I meant tapped to be his veep…) and he married a rich lady anyway?”

Waaaaay at the bottom of its love letter, the far-left Times finally brings the subject up, but only to mention that Crist accepted her apology and that Reid now considers Crist to be a “lovely guy.” Sure, now that he is a Democrat.

Without question, Reid’s despicable anti-gay attacks on Crist, her attempt to use homosexuality as a weapon to disqualify and dehumanize him, are the worst examples of homophobia we have ever seen from a person currently working at a major media outlet; this includes Alec Baldwin.

But, just as the New York Times and the mainstream media are willing to cuddle up to North Korea’s Hitler because he is anti-Trump, so, too, can Reid be pardoned for unpardonable behavior.

After all, she is the enemy of the Times’ enemy: Trump.
