The video features Melissa Ohden, an abortion survivor. Then Illinois Senator Obama voted against measures to force a doctor to save a baby accidentally born from a botched abortion four times. He also voted against measures that would ban sex-selection abortions. Many polls have shown the majority of Americans are FOR these measures.
“President Obama and the Democratic Party platform represent a position on abortion so extreme, voters should question the President's honesty in committing to finding ‘common ground’ in the last general election,” said Susan B. Anthony List President Marjorie Dannenfelser. “Opposing the sex selection and post-fetal pain abortion bans voted on in the House of Representatives are minority stances among women and all Americans. Voting four times against measures that would provide equal protection to children accidentally born alive after a failed abortion is a clear minority stance. Requiring Americans to pay for abortion through their taxes is a minority view as well. Where is that ground he is standing? It is uncommon, callous, lonely ground.
“So committed to every abortion, this President is committed even to the failed ones. Melissa’s story is the human face of the legislation he rejected four times. He would allow only the abortionist, the one who guaranteed a dead baby, to provide intensive care to the most vulnerable babies imaginable. Why? He explained it would threaten abortion rights generally. This is uncommon heartlessness.”
The Charlotte Lozier Institute found that 77% of respondents would support a ban on sex-selection abortion. A poll from NRLC found that 63% respondents would support a ban on late term abortion past the point at which unborn children feel pain.
"We want this video to make them look closer," Ms. Dannenfelser told Breitbart News. "Where do you draw the line on a viable human being? What is President Obama's true position? Well, in 2001 then state Senator Obama called abortion survivors pre-viable fetuses."
Ms. Dannenfelser told Breitbart News this is also the first time the Democrats removed the word “rare” while talking about abortion in their platform. Abortion is celebrated every 5 minutes at the DNC convention so she’s not shocked the word disappeared. They, just like President Obama, will not find common ground because any compromise would undermine Roe vs. Wade.
She also insisted pressure must stay on because of this omission. “Their courage increases because they can get away with it,” she told Breitbart News.
SBA List also hopes if Governor Romney wins and the GOP either has a bigger force or majority in the senate they will use science to push a ban on late term abortions.
