Reid Says U.S. Economy Is in 'Recovery'
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.), who is an expert on economics, said Thursday the American economy is "in a recovery."
Reid’s comment was a response to Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell's (R-Ky.) remarks blaming the White House for the decline in the U.S. gross national product in the last quarter of 2012. The GDP fell 0.1%, which caught everyone by surprise.
Reid blurted, “[McConnell] continues bad mouthing the recovery. We are in a recovery.” Reid, blaming the GOP, had his own explanation for the GDP decline from the Harry Reid Book Of Economics, asserting that “Growth went down in the fourth quarter because of reduced government spending. The economy was rejecting the austerity and brinkmanship.”
Ah, the economy stinks because the government isn’t spending enough. This statement reveals the breathtaking scope of Reid’s economic knowledge, which also includes statements like this:
"My Republican friends are yet to bring a single piece of evidence that the regulations they hate so much have the economic harm they claim. That’s because there isn’t any."
"Millionaire job creators are like unicorns. They are impossible to find and don't exist."
