SUMMERFIELD, Fla., April 17 (UPI) — A Florida man was arrested for allegedly brandishing a rusty machete and chasing a neighbor he spotted talking to his girlfriend, police said.
The Marion County Sheriff’s Office said the victim told them a female neighbor had come to his Summerfield home and was talking to him outside the house when her boyfriend, Juan Ramon Ortiz, 55, jumped over a fence and chased him with a machete, the Ocala (Fla) Star-Banner reported Wednesday.
The man said Ortiz chased him around his vehicle until the victim was able to get inside his home and call 911.
Ortiz told police he suspects his girlfriend of cheating on him with the other man and became enraged when he saw them talking to each other.
Ortiz was jailed on a charge of aggravated assault.
