Represent Carolyn McCarthy (D-NV) claims Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) promised Democrats he will “definitely” bring gun control back for another vote this year.
Speaking on April 26, McCarthy said: “Reid has already told us that they were definitely going to bring it up again. We don’t know when that time will be, but he said before the end of the year.”
McCarthy says that pro-gun control senators are working behind the scenes to gather enough votes to break a filibuster right now. And from all indications, as soon as they believe they can cross the 60 vote line, gun control will be voted on again.
Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV) is working to have his gun control bill voted on separately, so that it does not live or die based on the votes received by the other legislation.
