'King of Queens' Star Decries Scientology's 'Thought Modification,' Quits Church

Leah Remini, best known for playing the patient wife on the hit CBS sitcom King of Queens, is leaving the Church of Scientology. And the actress may have more to say on the subject in the days and weeks to come.

Remini, one of the higher profile Scientologists in Hollywood, left the Church after questioning both its leadership and how church members are treated, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Remini, who starred on the CBS sitcom King of Queens and, more recently, ABC’s short-lived Family Tools, has quit following years of scrutiny in which she was alleged to have repeatedly been interrogated and forced to undergo “thought modification.”

The New York Post, which first broke the story, says the star is considering going public with her thoughts on leaving Scientology.

The Church had no comment on the matter.
