You have to admire the blatant hypocrisy of the left-wing media. You could get whiplash watching an operator like Keith Olbermann do a reversal on politically-tinged dog stories:
Jonah Goldberg broadened the argument beyond dog stories to the way the media frames stories in general. I can't improve on his bottom line:

As Keith Olbermann helpfully demonstrates, the decision as to how to treat something can change dramatically depending on whose ox is being gored.
