Hometown Legend: 'Doc' Watson Dead at 89

Boone, North Carolina is a college town of about 14,000 nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains, and except for an unfortunate sidetrack to Los Angeles for, oh, about nine years, this has been my home since 1993 -- and Doc Watson is our legend. There's a statue of him in our lovely little tourist trap of a downtown and all kinds of places are named after him, something I think we're going to see more of now that he's gone. 30 May 2012

Media Ties Romney to Trump, Ignores Obama-Sharpton Connection

As I mentioned in my piece this morning examining the organized narrative the media built over the weekend to aid Obama and damage Romney, the primary push was going to be to tie Romney to Donald Trump. Because Trump is still pushing the discredited "birther" conspiracy surrounding Obama's place of birth, the corrupt media feels it can hurt our likely GOP nominee by either tying him to a "racist extremist" or by threatening him with this distraction until he backs down and repudiates Trump. 29 May 2012

Lesson #13,412: How Today's Blacklist Works

This outing of Klavan is also obnoxious and glaring; the opener of the review! Have you ever read a review that opened with the outing of the creator's religious and political affiliation? The message to the left-wingers who run libraries is pretty obvious: Avoid. 29 May 2012

WI Recall: Five Reasons We Must Fight for Lt. Gov. Rebecca Kleefisch

With all eyes on the Wisconsin recall election, most of the attention and resources have gone towards the main event: Republican Governor Scott Walker's bid to fight off challenger Tom Barrett. Between the polls and the pulling back of last minute resources, it seems pretty clear Democrats are losing hope in their goal to unseat Walker. But as my colleague Dana Loesch pointed out this morning, in an effort to save face, Democrats are now turning their fire on Wisconsin's Lt. Governor, Rebecca Kleefisch. 29 May 2012

Bad News for Elizabeth Warren: Primary Challenge, Debates Likely

The anointed and increasingly embattled Elizabeth Warren is no longer looking all that anointed in her bid to take on Republican U.S. Senator Scott Brown for his Massachusetts seat. Today, the Boston Herald's reporting that there's a very real possibility Warren might face a primary challenge and, better still, a debate situation in which she won't be able to run away from inconvenient questions. 29 May 2012

Box Office Cooling: Memorial Weekend Down 31% Over Last Year

With five major flops/disappointments in a row, the once on-fire banner box office year has cooled considerably. According to Box Office Mojo, the disappointing returns on "Men In Black 3," combined with the tepid takes from recently released disappointments such as "Dark Shadows," "The Dictator," and "Battleship" -- brought the weekend to its knees. 2011 was a notoriously awful year for Hollywood and yet this Memorial Day weekend was down a troubling 31% over last year's. 29 May 2012

Today's Media Narrative: Obama the All-American Hero, Romney the Elitist Extremist

The First Lady and potential First Lady aren’t immune from the journolisting either. Sunday, the New York Times did a major spread on what a rich, wealthy, elitist cheater Ann Romney is -- a story that is just now making its way into the narrative. But… Today, on the front page of USA Today, we read all about multi-millionaire Michelle Obama's garden, which includes ready-made, all-American photos -- and, naturally, this story is already a viral sensation. 29 May 2012

Box Office: 'Men in Black 3' Disappoints at #1

That’s not anywhere close to the $90M which Hollywood thought this popular franchise could open its threequel. This makes the 5th major studio release that has underperformed at the start of Summer 2012, though not as badly as the others. 26 May 2012

John Wolfe Sues Arkansas Dems For Delegates Won In Primary Against Obama

Earlier this week, Breitbart News reported that Arkansas state Democrats might attempt to disenfranchise the state's voters by refusing to award delegates to John Wolfe, a Tennessee attorney who was on the ballot challenging President Obama (Wolfe is also on the May 29 ballot in the upcoming Texas primary). Yesterday, Wolfe filed suit against the Arkansas Democrat Party in the Federal District Court in Little Rock. 26 May 2012

Blu-Ray Review-a-Palooza: 'John Carter,' 'Hondo,' 'The Grey,' More...

What makes this story element so creepy is that the movie itself doesn’t seem to understand that Nobbs horrific act of Crying Gaming this poor unsuspecting girl is immoral and wrong. In a plot turn impossible to swallow, Nobbs hatches this plan after learning that the result of this same creepy deceit resulted in domestic bliss for a woman disguising herself as a male housepainter. 26 May 2012
