As Shiite insurgents continue their attacks against Yemen’s President Abed Rabbo Mansour Hadi, the White House won’t say whether it plans to evacuate the U.S. embassy there as the country faces growing instability.

White House Senior Advisor Valerie Jarrett explained in an interview with MSNBC’s Andrea Mitchell that she didn’t want to break news on any White House plans to safeguard the individuals within the embassy.

“Well I don’t want to get ahead of ourselves,” she said this afternoon. “What I can tell you obviously is that we are in close touch with the embassy. Keeping our folks safe who are representing the United States around the world is a top priority and I have no more news to announce on that right now.”

Jarrett’s interview was intended to promote President Obama’s agenda for tonight’s State of the Union Address to Congress.
