Jay Z Stops Mid Concert to Assure 9-Year-Old Girl: America ‘Way More Sexist’ than Racist

Rapper and music streaming mogul Jay Z paused his concert in Cleveland on Sunday night to warn a 9-year-old audience member that even though “America is way more sexist” than it is racist, she can still grow up to be president.

“You can be anything that you want to be when you grow up,” the Grammy-winner said. “And I’ll tell you something: At this very moment, America is way more sexist than they are racist. Now you, young lady, you got the potential to be the next president of the United States. You believe that. You understand?”

The show-stopping moment during this weekend’s 4:44 tour stop was caught on camera:

Jay Z — a prominent supporter of Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign and an outspoken critic of President Donald Trump — often includes crude lyrics that some find degrading to women, a point President Trump made last November.

Following a profanity-filled music performance for Hillary Clinton in Cleveland last November, then-candidate Trump slammed the New York rapper’s “bad” language.

“Can you imagine if I said that?” Trump said to a crowd in Tampa, Florida. “So he used every word in the book last night. He used language last night that was so bad — and then Hillary said, ‘I don’t like Trump’s lewd language,’” Trump said as the audience booed.

During a Sept. interview with BBC Radio 1, the “99 Problems” rapper called President Trump “a “joke” and said, ” I can’t even say with all due respect — with all disrespect.”

Last month, Jay Z showed support for NFL National Anthem protesters by wearing a jersey with former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick’s name on it during a musical performance on the season premiere of Saturday Night Live.
