Chinese man sentenced to death for killing nose job doctor

WENLING CITY, China, Jan. 27 (UPI) —

A Chinese court sentenced to death a man who stabbed to death a doctor and injured two other doctors after he said he received a botched nose job surgery.

Lian Enqing, 33, was convicted of stabbing the doctors Oct. 25 in the ear, nose and throat department at the No. 1 People’s Hospital in Wenling City, Chinese news agency Xinhua reported Monday.

Lian’s sister, Lian Qiao, said her brother frequently complained about his nose, and having respiratory problems and discomfort after he had nasal surgery in March.

Lian Qiao said though doctors confirmed he had a successful surgery, he felt cheated.

From August to Oct. 15, Lian received treatment for persistent delusional disorder at Shanghai Mental Health Center.

The court said Lian was aware of his crime and had the capacity for criminal responsibility.
