Friday in an interview with ABC News, while discussing a New York Times report that President Donald Trump considered firing special counsel Robert Mueller, Sen. Mark Warner (D-VA) said legislation to protect FBI Special Counsel Robert Mueller should be “taken up and passed immediately by both houses” in light of “the president’s intent.”
Warner said, “There was bipartisan legislation in the fall that would protect special counsel Mueller in the fall. I think some members thought it wasn’t necessary. Now in light of the president’s intent becoming clear, I would hope that that legislation would be taken up and passed immediately by both houses.”
