US Bobsled Star 'Smashes Door' to Escape Sochi Shower

AFP — He is used to employing his immense physical strength to push his bobsleigh to top speed in the running starts.

But US bobsleigh team member Johnny Quinn on Saturday used his muscle for a different purpose — to escape from the bathroom at the Sochi Winter Olympics after being locked in.

And by using the none-too-subtle method of smashing the door down, he left a gaping hole in his wake.

For good measure, he posted a photo of the remains of the rather flimsy looking door. The door appears to have emerged the worse off from the encounter.

Quinn, 30, is expected to appear in both the two and four man bobsleigh competitions in Sochi. Previously he was a wide-receiver in American and Canadian Football with the Buffalo Bills, Green Bay Packers and Saskatchewan Roughriders.

There has been criticism of the standard of some of the accommodation in Sochi, although the focus has been on rooms for the media, many of which were not finished on time.
