Mexico’s top diplomats traveled to Washington, D.C. to meet with Secretary of State Rex Tillerson and DHS Secretary John Kelly.

According to information provided to Breitbart Texas by Mexico’s Foreign Ministry, Secretary Luis Videgaray met with his counterpart, Tillerson, and Kelly to discuss various bilateral issues. Some of the matters discussed include border security, infrastructure, immigration, and others. Mexican officials would not confirm if the proposed wall was discussed. According to Mexico’s Foreign Ministry, the meeting continued the dialogue between the two nations that Presidents Donald J. Trump and Enrique Peña Nieto had agreed to.

As Breitbart Texas has reported in the past, diplomatic tensions between the two countries have stirred over the current administration’s hard line on border security, illegal immigration, and the infiltration of Mexican cartels. One of the points of disagreement between the two countries has been about Mexico paying for the construction of a complete border wall.

DHS Secretary John Kelly recently visited the Texas border where he met with Governor Greg Abbott and toured some of the areas that have seen a dramatic spike in human smuggling and drug trafficking activity. During a recent hearing, Kelly spoke about some of the measures needed to better secure the border and how a wall or other physical barrier is needed in key smuggling areas.
