ESPN’s J.A. Adande: Redskins Nickname ‘Has Passed Its Expiration Date’

During Monday’s “Around the Horn” on ESPN, J.A. Adande took his stance on the Washington Redskins nickname. While talking about Redskins defensive lineman Jason Hatcher accusing referees NFL referees of being biased against his team because of its nickname, Adande said he does not think referees are biased because of the nickname, but the name “has passed its expiration date” if players now believe it is hurting them.

“I’m selling the nickname being the reason for that call, but I’m buying that being an example of maybe that nickname has passed its expiration date. If the players are thinking that, then guess what, maybe Dan Snyder ought to change it so they won’t have calls go against them for no other reason, like it’s really offensive to a lot of people,” charged Adande.
