FS1’s Schlereth: Tebow’s a ‘Better Baseball Player Than He Is a Professional Quarterback’

Former Denver Broncos lineman Mark Schlereth said Wednesday on Fox Sports 1’s “The Herd” that New York Mets minor leaguer and former Broncos quarterback Tim Tebow is a “far better” professional baseball player than quarterback.

Schlereth, now an analyst for Fox Sports 1 after 16 years with ESPN, reacted to Joe Montana’s Tebow-Colin Kaepernick comparison, saying the two are similar in that their run-first play-styles are not a fit in the NFL.

“Right now, Tim Tebow is a far better professional baseball player than he was a professional quarterback,” Schlereth told guest host Jason Whitlock.

He added, “[Tebow]’s a great football player. He’s not a quarterback. He can’t play that position. And he’s been offered opportunities to play other positions and he turned them down because he wanted to be a quarterback. Right now, he’s a better baseball player than he was a quarterback.”

The 29-year-old Tebow was recently promoted to Mets High-A affiliate, the St. Lucie Mets, and he is hitting .318 with two home runs and nine runs batted in through 14 games.
