Howard Dean: If Trump Ends DACA, Dems Will Take Flake’s Seat

Friday on MSNBC’s “The Beat,” former DNC chairman Gov. Howard Dean (D-VT) said if President Donald Trump were to end the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) policy, Democrats would pick up Sen. Jeff Flake’s (R-AZ) U.S. Senate seat in the 2018 midterm election.

Dean said, “Two things: First, McCain’s a maverick, but he doesn’t speak for anybody but himself, except for Lindsey Graham. Let’s see if others say this. Secondly, McCain just got back from Arizona. My personal belief is he is putting Arizona in play for the Democrats in 2018 in the Senate race. If DACA happens to be overturned, I can’t imagine how the Latino community is not going to vote about 90% Democratic and going to come out. That’s the single biggest issue, and the single most unfair issue, and the single most persecutorial, if you will, that will motivate Hispanics in 2018. ”
