Dem Rep. Hill: Trump ‘Does Not Care About the Law’

Representative Katie Hill (D-CA) on Monday voiced her concern for President Donald Trump’s affinity for following the law in response to the president saying he is not going to fire White House counselor Kellyanne Conway for violating the Hatch Act.

“No, I’m not going to fire her, I think she’s a terrific person, she’s a tremendous spokesperson, she’s been loyal, she’s just a great person,” Trump told “Fox & Friends last week.

Hill said during an appearance on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” that Trump’s actions and the people he surrounds himself with are evidence he does not care for the law and that he thinks he is above the law.

“[I]t’s action after action by the Trump administration and all of the people he surrounds himself that shows that he does not care about the law. He does not care about presidential norms and he believes he is above the law,” Hill explained. “And I think that’s exactly why we need to make sure that during the election process we are ever rebutting that at every level.”
