SNL’s Cecily Strong to Host White House Correspondents’ Dinner

The entertainment for the White House Correspondents’ Association dinner in the spring has been announced.

Cecily Strong, Saturday Night Live cast member and co-anchor of the show’s “Weekend Update” will headline the event, reports The Hill.

Strong got her start as a comic in the hometown of President Barrack Obama, who will perform his own comedy set at dinner.

“Her political humor is sly and edgy, and it comes with a Chicago accent,” said WHCA President Christi‎ Parsons. “In the 82-year history of our dinner, she’ll be the fourth woman to serve in this role.‎”

Strong reportedly has ties to the news industry, as her father Bill Strong was an Associated Press bureau chief in the Illinois state House.

The comedienne is best known for her impersonations of Fox News host Megan Kelly and MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow.

The White House Correspondents’ Association dinner, which typically draws strong presence from Washington and Hollywood, will be held on April 25, 2015.
