Atheists Won’t Stop Carrie Underwood from Singing About Faith: ‘If You Don’t Like It, Change the Channel’

Despite being advised not to praise Jesus in public, Carrie Underwood is proud of her Christian faith and she is not afraid to let it shine.

The mega star has reportedly been scrutinized recently by people in the Country and Pop music industries for her track titled “Something in the Water,” which highlights a biblical view of being a born again Christian.

Here is a sample of the lyrics that struck a nerve with various atheist groups:

He said, “I’ve been where you’ve been before.
Down every hallway’s a slamming door.
No way out, no one to come and save me.
Wasting a life that the Good Lord gave me.

Then somebody said what I’m saying to you,
Opened my eyes and told me the truth.”
They said, “Just a little faith, it’ll all get better.”
So I followed that preacher man down to the river and now I’m changed
And now I’m stronger

Underwood, who stands for traditional American values, issued the following statement in response to the attacks on her new song, which just hit #1 on the Country charts this week.

“I’m not the first person to sing about God, Jesus, faith [or] any of that, and I won’t be the last. And it won’t be the last for me, either. If you don’t like it, change the channel,” she said.

She elaborated on the meaning of her hit song, as well as what she hopes others will take away from it:

Something in the Water is so inspirational. It’s joyous! I can’t help but smile when I hear it. I hope it has the same effect on everyone who listens to it.

It’s an uplifting song about changing your life and having that ‘aha moment’ to waking up and your life being different from that moment forward.

Underwood finishes the song with a beautiful rendition of the popular hymn, “Amazing Grace.”
