The devolution of the once lovable, unifying, irreverent Muppets into tired, preachy left-wing scolds, is one of the real tragedies of modern-American culture. The Muppets were once awesome, brilliant, hilarious, charming, patriotic, and completely unique.
Today the Muppets attack Fox News, free enterprise, and religious freedom. Today, Miss Ms. Piggy publicly jumps on the HillaryTrain by coming out as a feminist and answering that she’s “pro-everything” when asked if she’s pro-choice.
If you are “pro-everything,” you are pro-choice. If you are pro-choice and pro-life, being pro-choice renders a pro-life stance meaningless.
Other than breaking our hearts, The Muppets have paid a real price for this cultural and political divisiveness. Their big comeback movie underperformed in a big way. Their second movie outright flopped.
Now the Muppets are moving to where all Leftists move when they can’t grab a big a audience: television — a world where even the criminally low-rated Jon Stewart, Tina Fey, Lena Dunham and CNN can pretend to be stars.
You suck, Muppets.
