The first full look at Quentin Tarantino’s upcoming film The Hateful Eight was released Thursday as the director battles controversy and threats of boycott from law enforcement unions over comments made at an anti-police rally in New York last month.
The new trailer gives fans an extended look at the chaos that ensues when eight hapless individuals get caught up in a fierce blizzard in post-Civil War Wyoming. Witty banter and bullets fly.

Police departments and unions nationwide have pledged to boycott the film over Tarantino’s participation in an anti-police rally in New York City last month, where the director told demonstrators: “When I see murders, I do not stand by… I have to call a murder a murder, and I have to call the murderers the murderers.”
The tagline featured at the end of the trailer is all the more ironic in the context of the boycott threat: “Spend the holidays with someone you hate.”
The Hateful Eight was written and directed by Tarantino and stars Kurt Russell, Samuel L. Jackson, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Walton Goggins, Tim Roth, Michael Madsen, Bruce Dern, Zoe Bell, and Channing Tatum.
The film gets a special limited release on Christmas Day, where equipped theaters will present it in its original 70mm extra-wide screen format. It opens wide on January 8.
