A lone chicken slowed down traffic on the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge Wednesday morning before California Highway Patrol from Oakland captured the “felonious fowl.”

According to San Francisco-based news outlet KRON 4, the chicken was first reported running freely around Fastrak lanes, by the bridge’s toll plaza, in a tweet sent out by KCBS Traffic at 5:53 a.m. It was captured around 10 a.m.

It is unknown how the hen got loose. The chicken sighting prompted mention of this proverbial joke:
