Search Is on for Spencer Stone’s Stabbers in Sacramento

The search is on for the men who stabbed American hero Spencer Stone’s, leaving the U.S. Air Force Staff Sergeant in critical condition on Thursday outside of a bar in Sacramento.

Stone was knifed in the chest; his condition has improved to fair since then, and he is making steady progress.

Midtown businesses and bars, including the Badlands outside of which the stabbing took place, are teaming up to offer a reward up to $3,500 for information leading to arrest, according to local CBS News affiliate in Sacramento.

“It’s going to take that one piece of information that comes from a witness tip; a friend of a friend that heard something,” Sacramento police spokesman Doug Morse reportedly said. “We’re hopeful, but we also realize it’s going to take the community’s help,” he said noting his enthusiasm that “someone’s gonna talk.”

Stone, 23, was with three female and two male friends at the gay bar where he was reportedly a showstopper as the crowd went wild with excitement, cheering him on for his heroic actions in thwarting a terrorist attack while on board a train headed from Paris to Amsterdam in August.

Authorities say no one in his group was drunk, and that Stone was stabbed after he was trying to defend a woman who had been punched by a man from a different group. The woman and two suspects involved in his stabbing reportedly fled in a waiting Toyota Camry shortly after.

Surveillance video captured the unfortunate incident but has not yet led to any arrests.
