The California Rifle and Pistol Association has entered the fray against Lt. Governor Gavin Newsom’s gun control initiative via a video showing how Newsom’s measures would make women more vulnerable.

The video, titled “Take Away Our Rights, Take Away Our Life,” highlights how bad guys with guns will be able to prey on an expanded number of outgunned law-abiding citizens if Newsom’s initiative passes. The Los Angeles Times reports that “the video depicts a woman walking to her car in a dark parking garage being assaulted by a man. The woman pulls out a gun, but when she pulls the trigger there are no bullets.”

Newsom is seeking to expand the background check system to include ammunition purchases. This means a law-abiding citizen would have to go through a background check before being allowed to buy a box of .22 lr ammunition.

Moreover, Newsom wants to enact a statewide ban on “high capacity” magazines. This means criminals would continue to have 15, 20, and 30-round magazines–and beyond–while law-abiding citizens would be limited to 10 rounds or less.

Correction: This article originally — and mistakenly — credited the NRA with creating the video, based on reporting by another source cited above. Breitbart News has since learned that the video was created by the California Rifle and Pistol Association.
