The most expensive home in San Francisco, a $21.8 million Baroque Revival-style mansion in Pacific Heights, was purchased by Kyle Vogt this month — the 30-year-old billionaire “Robot Guru” who sold two billion-dollar startups in two years.

According to the San Francisco Chronicle, the home was listed on OpenHouse.com, and is located at 2250 Vallejo Street. It was sold for $6.2 million less than the original asking price ($28 million), and boasts neighbors such as Larry Ellison, the Gettys and David Sacks.

Vogt reportedly made his fortune by selling video-streaming site Twitch, which Amazon bought for approximately 1 billion dollars; and Cruise, a self-driving startup which he sold to General Motors for just over 1 billion dollars.

The 9,095-square-foot mansion is a rare find and consists of seven bedrooms; seven full baths and three half; four fireplaces, an elevator; a roof terrace; and an elliptical staircase.

The Chronicle notes that the mansion was designed by a local architect, James Francis Dunn, in the early 1900s for the Danish entrepreneur, James Madison, who made his fortune in the packing industry with the Alaska Salmon Company.

The home would go on to serve as housing for wounded soldiers during World War II; a home to former San Francisco mayor Angelo Joseph Rossi (1931–1944); and and an 11-unit apartment building. Bryan and Tara Meehan of Blue Bottle Coffee transformed it back into a single-family home in 2012.

The Meehans reportedly bought the mansion for $6.95 million four years ago.

Curbed.com put together a list of the most expensive homes currently for sale in the United States. The Manalapan Megamansion in Lantana, Florida, currently ranks as number one, with an asking price of $195 million dollars. The second-most expensive home currently for sale is also in Florida.

Eight of the 25 homes listed are located in California, and nine have addresses in New York.
