Report: Al-Qaeda Carrying Out ‘Forest Jihad’ in EU

In the spring of this year, Al-Qaeda’s Inspire magazine called for operatives to set forest fires in the U.S., yet a connection between the terrorist group and our fires was never made. However, The Telegraph is reporting that the connection has been made in Europe.

As fires spring up throughout the European Union, Russia’s Federal Security Service claims they are part of Al-Qaeda’s “low-cost attack strategy.”

Said Alexander Bortnikov: “This method allows (Al-Qaeda) to inflict significant economic and moral damage without serious preliminary preparations, technical equipment or significant expenses.” He added that the fires are part of a “forest jihad” certain “extremist websites” have called for.

More than 184,000 hectares of Spain alone were destroyed by fires between January 1, 2012 and September 16.
