Two Marines Killed in Military Training Accident

Two Marines were killed late Friday afternoon when a Third Marine Aircraft Wing UH-1Y Huey helicopter conducting training crashed. The accident occurred at Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center in Twentynine Palms, California.

“Our hearts go out to the families and friends of the two Marines we lost in this tragic accident,” Third Marine Aircraft Wing Commanding General, Major General Michael A. Rocco said in a release. “We at Third Marine Aircraft Wing stand ready to provide support to their families.”

The two Marines that died were the only two aboard the helicopter when it crashed. Names have not yet been released while families of the Marines are being notified. Both were stationed at Marine Corps base Camp Pendleton in San Diego, California.

Many prayers and condolences are being offered up for the families and friends of the two Marines that died while serving their country.

An investigation into the circumstances of the crash is ongoing.
