Sept. 8 (UPI) — American rock band Cage the Elephant will take to the stage at the NFL Munich Game.
The NFL announced in a press release Tuesday that the group will headline the halftime show at the matchup between the New England Patriots and Detroit Lions.
The NFL Munich Game will take place Nov. 15 at 3:30 p.m. local time (9:30 a.m. ET) at FC Bayern Munich Arena, with Cage the Elephant’s halftime performance to broadcast on RTL and Sky Sport in Germany.
Cage the Elephant is a Grammy-winning rock band known for the singles “Ain’t No Rest for the Wicked,” “Cigarette Daydreams” and “Cold Cold Cold.” The group released its sixth album, Neon Pill, in 2024.
“We have played a lot of shows in Germany over the years and the crowds here have always given us everything they have,” Cage the Elephant frontman Matt Shultz said in a statement. “Playing a halftime show is a completely different animal — you get one shot in front of a stadium and a global audience, and you have to make every second count. We are going to bring the same energy we bring to our own shows and we cannot wait.”
Munich previously hosted regular season NFL games in 2022 and 2024, and will do so again in 2028.
Arya Starr was previously announced to headline the NFL London Game halftime show, with the Jonas Brothers to perform the NFL Melbourne Game halftime show.
NFL commissioner Roger Goodell said in August that he has “no doubt” about the possibility of future NFL teams based outside of the United States.
