HBO orders Romano, Cuoco, Wilson ensemble ‘How to Survive Without Me’

Sept. 16 (UPI) — HBO announced Wednesday it has ordered the series How to Survive Without Me. The ensemble led by Ray Romano and Kaley Cuoco is from Greg Berlanti.

The one-hour drama also stars Joshua Jackson, Julia Schlaepfer, Jack Ball, Kylar Miranda, Julian Grey, Scarlett Abinante, Tommy Dewey, Matthew Kellison, Colette Porch, Ella Rubin and Rita Wilson.

The order is for 15 episodes. Wilson plays the De Angelis family mother who dies and leaves behind instructions for holding the family together. Romano plays her widower.

Dar Zuzovsky, Genevieve Angelson, Joe Romano, Katie Aselton, Wil Yun Lee and more guest star.

Bash Doran wrote the pilot with Berlanti. Berlanti executive produces with his husband, Robbie Rogers, and Doran.

Berlanti said the show reminds him of his first series, Everwood.

“The first show I ever created was a family drama,” Berlanti said in a statement. “To also co-create it with Bash and my husband, Robbie, and draw from our own families’ experiences of love and loss has made the whole show the most personal thing I’ve worked on in years.”
