Sept. 11 (UPI) — Ransom Canyon won’t return for Season 3.
Deadline reported Thursday that the romantic drama starring Josh Duhamel and Minka Kelly has been canceled after two seasons on Netflix.
Sources cited declining viewership and cost of production for the cancellation.
The Hollywood Reporter confirmed the news.
Ransom Canyon is based on the Jodi Thomas book series. The show follows Staten Kirkland (Duhamel) and Quinn O’Grady (Kelly), longtime friends and possible love interests, as they try to revive their small Texas ranching town of Ransom Canyon.
Season 2, released in July, ended with Quinn turning down a marriage proposal from her boyfriend, Oliver (Ben Robson), leaving her free to pursue a relationship with Staten.
Showrunner April Blair had recently told Entertainment Weekly that “the end of Season 2 isn’t the end of [Staten and Quinn’s] story. It’s actually just the beginning.”
