Steve Deace: Conservatives Must Combat 'Know-It-All' Press to Win

On Breitbart News Sunday on Sirius XM Patriot channel 125, Steve Deace, the influential Iowa talk radio host, told host and Breitbart News Executive Chairman Stephen K. Bannon what conservatives need to do to win elections, which includes ignoring mainstream media “know-it-alls” who will never have their best interests at heart.

Furthermore, Deace said, conservatives need to define their opponents, rebut their false premises, and stay on offense.

Deace’s book, Rules for Patriots: How Conservatives Can Win Again, gives conservative activists a playbook to enact lasting policy and institutional changes. He said he was sick and tired of Republicans handing the basketball to people who wear the same jersey but score points for the other team. He shared his goal of winning public policy battles to turn back the gains the left have made in America.

He also warned conservatives to ignore the mainstream press who try to push upon them candidates they label as “electable.” This includes politicians like Mitt Romney and John McCain, who then get conveniently trounced in general elections as if it were by design.

He said that liberals are more likely to identify themselves by their groups, while conservatives identify based on principles, which is why it is tougher for conservatives to appeal to emotions to win these arguments.

Deace asserted, as an example, that conservatives should say abortion is the act of “killing babies” and put liberals on the defensive. He said liberals and mainstream media reporters do not expect conservatives to put them on the defensive. They were surprised, therefore, when Deace, on an MSNBC income inequality panel, asked his liberal panelists to raise their hands if they had ever gotten a job from a poor person. No one could raise his hand, and they immediately changed the subject after they got flustered.

On an appearance on Breitbart News Saturday, Deace blasted the “Republicrats” whom the mainstream press are so accustomed to in red states like Texas and Kentucky. They are, he said, more dangerous than RINOs (Republicans in Name Only) because they talk like conservatives before lurching to the left once they get elected.

Bannon said his father could not put Deace’s book down because it was an essential playbook conservatives must read to win elections, as well as the policy battles that come after elections.

Breitbart News Sunday can be heard weekly from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. EST on Sirius XM Patriot channel 125.
