University of South Carolina police have reported a murder-suicide on campus on February 5 around 1 PM.

Police report the incident was “isolated” and therefore not a matter of indiscriminate violence.

According to WLTX 19, the incident occurred in the Arnold School of Public Health. When police responded, they said, “there was no active shooting situation,” but that two individuals were dead.

They did not reveal whether the individuals were students or faculty. And The State reports that police “would not identify the shooter” or say whether the gunman was “part of the on-campus community.”

South Carolina State Law Enforcement Division spokesman Thom Berry said Richland County Coroner Gary Watts “is investigating and may have more information [late] on February 5 or 6.”
