Presidential candidate and U.S. Sen. Rand Paul says he plans to demand a vote in the Senate to end taxpayer funding to Planned Parenthood.

In the coming week, Paul will seek legislative action that will prohibit taxpayer funding for Planned Parenthood, which amounts to an average of nearly $500 million per year. According to a press release, Paul will use all legislative means to ensure there is immediate action on this proposal.

“The continued disregard and disrespect for human life at Planned Parenthood, a partially taxpayer-funded organization, is shocking and appalling,” Paul said in the statement. “Recent video revelations, involving potentially criminal activity, make it more obvious than ever that this organization has absolutely zero respect for the sanctity of human life and is an affront to the most basic human dignity enshrined in our founding documents.”

“Not one more taxpayer dollar should go to Planned Parenthood and I intend to make that goal a reality,” Paul asserted.
