Rep. Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) should put her name in the race to become the next Speaker of the House, says the American Conservative Union’s executive director, Daniel Schneider.

“Blackburn is the most conservative woman in all of Congress. She has a lifetime ACU rating of 96 – that puts her in a solid ‘A’ camp. Year-in and year-out she is consistently been a solid performer,” Schneider said. “I would hope she would run,” Schneider told Breitbart News Thursday afternoon.

Schneider’s statements came Thursday, shortly after Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) pulled his name out of the race for House Speaker.

Rep. Jason Chaffetz (R-UT) and Rep. Daniel Webster (R-FL) are also in the running to replace outgoing House Speaker John Bohener (R-OH).

McCarthy withdrew his name from consideration, saying it’s time for a “new face,” prompting Rep. Darrell Issa (R-CA) to predict that neither Chaffetz nor Webster could get 218 votes by October 29th to officially become Speaker.

Blackburn has “a solid conservative voting record, but she’s also demonstrated a real strength and an ability to communicate… conservative values in a way that conservatives understand and believe in, and in a way that the average American can also understand,” Schneider said.

She could unite the Republican Party, he said. “She’s well liked within the conference and well respected for her intellect, her consistency and her compassion,” he said.
