Sparta, Tennessee Police Chief Jeff Guth tells Breitbart News “[t]here is no official police report,” associated with claims by Sparta resident and White County School Board member Roy Whited that he has received death threats.

“He has not filed an official report. He contacted us that he had received threats. He just asked that we provide extra patrol. He contacted us last week,” Guth tells Breitbart News of Whited’s claims, first made in an interview with WSMV television on Tuesday.

A parents group, White County Citizens Against Islamic Indoctrination, has called for the resignation of all seven members of the White County School Board, including Whited, for their failure to follow school board policies and state law in their recent decision to adopt the Islam-centric textbook, myWorld History and Geography: The Middle Ages to Exploration of the Americas, for use in seventh grade Social Studies classes.

“I don’t have anything,” Guth tells Breitbart News.

“He just said he had a threat on his family and his house. I don’t have any proof. There is no official offense report. I have nothing,” Guth added.

When Breitbart News informed Chief Guth that the Council on Islamic-American Relations (CAIR) called on Wednesday for a Department of Justice investigation into Whited’s claims, Chief Guth said he had never heard of CAIR.

As Breitbart News reported previously, the United Arab Emirates recently called CAIR a terrorist group.

In 2009, Fox News reported:

The FBI is severing its once-close ties with the nation’s largest Muslim advocacy group, the Council on American-Islamic Relations, amid mounting evidence that it has links to a support network for Hamas.

All local chapters of CAIR have been shunned in the wake of a 15-year FBI investigation that culminated with the conviction in December of Hamas fundraisers at a trial where CAIR itself was listed as an unindicted co-conspirator.

A source within the White County Sheriff’s Department, which has jurisdiction over the unincorporated areas of the county surrounding the city of Sparta, tells Breitbart News that they also have not received a complaint from Whited.

“Not that I’m aware of, but I think Roy lives inside the city,” the source tells Breitbart News.

The source says when such a complaint is filed, the department initiates an investigation. No such investigation has been initiated in relation to Whited’s claims to WSMV because no complaint has been filed.

The source also tells Breitbart News that the conduct of any death threat investigation “depends on how the threat was received,” and on whether any evidence exists to support the claim.

“I’m deeply suspicious of any uncorroborated claims of a threat,” a former Tennessee prosecutor tells Breitbart News.”

“Such claims are incredibly easy to make, and it’s been my experience in these cases involving unsubstantiated claims of threat that, in fact, there never was a threat,” the former prosecutor says.

“When you have an advocacy group demanding a Department of Justice investigation on a claim where there appears to be no evidence to back the claim, it sounds to me like you have a group that is simply grandstanding, that is pushing a particular agenda,” he says of the CAIR press release.

“During my time as a prosecutor, I would never approve a case for prosecution that involved an uncorroborated claim of a threat,” the former prosecutor concludes.
