Former President George W. Bush appears in a new ad for his brother Jeb — making a rare public statement announcing his support.

“I know Jeb. I know his good heart and his strong backbone Jeb will unite our country, he knows how to bring the world together against terror, and he knows when tough measures must be taken,” the former president says in an ad run by the pro-Jeb super PAC Right To Rise.

Jeb Bush has been leaning heavily on the family name as he makes his case in the New Hampshire primary on Tuesday. Earlier this week, he flew his mother, Barbara Bush, to New Hampshire from Texas  campaign events and TV interviews in support of his candidacy.

During an event in Bedford, New Hampshire, Jeb suggested that it was time for voters to get over his last name being “Bush.”

“The Bush thing, people are just going to have to get over it, alright?” he said, according to the Washington Examiner’s Philip Klein. “I got no problems with this, and people that do, they either need to get therapy themselves, or realize that we can change the course of this country working together to solve problems.”
