Jermaine Jackson lashed out at Republican presidential frontrunner Donald Trump on Friday after Trump said his brother Michael Jackson lost his confidence after a series of botched cosmetic procedures.
During Thursday night’s CNN Republican town hall in South Carolina, Trump spoke about his relationship with the late pop music icon. Describing Jackson as a “very good friend of mine” to moderator Anderson Cooper, Trump said Jackson had struggled with losing his self-confidence in the years leading up to his sudden 2009 death.
“Because very few people got to know Michael Jackson but he was an unbelievably talented guy and he lost his confidence,” Trump said. “He lost all his confidence. Honestly because of bad, bad, bad surgery. He had people that did numbers on him that was just unbelievable.”
Added Trump, “And when you lose your confidence in something you can even lose your talent.”

Jermaine Jackson, Michael Jackson’s older brother and member of the Jackson 5 music group, accused Trump of name-dropping to win over voters:
'Friends' don't pay tribute by peddling b.s. theories about Michael's 'loss in confidence'. This fool Trump needs to sit down.

Michael's confidence was affected by the pressures, injustice and vitriol of external circumstances. Period.

Jackson concluded:
Name-dropping Michael don't make you cool and won't win you votes. Especially when using botched facts.

One hour later, Jermaine also lashed out at celebrity news and gossip site TMZ, which had picked up his Trump tweets and twisted them so as to imply Trump and Michael Jackson were not friends.
“JERMAINE JACKSON TO TRUMP: SIT DOWN! You’re No Friend of MJ,” the TMZ headline read in an article covering the tweets.
“Donald Trump just got called out for claiming to be friends with Michael Jackson — by MJ’s brother,” noted the article, which Jermaine criticized for being inaccurate:
.@TMZ, I never said 'You're no friend of Michael.' He was. It's 'botched surgery' talk that I don't expect from a friend.
