Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has won the Mississippi Democrat primary, widening her delegate count over self-avowed socialist Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders.

The final Magnolia State vote seems to attest once again to analysts’ claim that Sanders has failed to garner enough support among African-Americans. Nearly six in ten voters in Mississippi are African American, but according to exit polls, Clinton won 89 percent of their vote to Sanders’ dismal 11 percent.

With Mississippi added to her column, Hillary Clinton has now won 12 primary contests, including eight southern states.

Perhaps the outcome in Mississippi was never much in doubt. According to the Washington Times, an ABC exit poll found that forty-seven percent of Mississippi Democrats said they trust “only Clinton” to handle race relations, while only eleven percent said they trust Sanders.
