On Sunday, 27-year-old Don William Alvarez U-turned, followed 28-year-old Jack Bellino home, and was shot dead in what law enforcement describes as self-defense.

According to CBS Miami, Alvarez and Bellino were driving in opposite directions near Fort Lauderdale, Florida, when Alvarez believed Bellino swerved into his lane. Alvarez U-turned and pursued Bellino while Alvarez’s passenger videoed the pursuit on her cellphone.

Broward County Sheriff Office (BCSO) spokeswoman Veda Coleman-Wright said Alvarez “actually made a u-turn and followed [Bellino] and [Bellino] was yelling out, ‘Hey, I am armed.'” The spokeswoman said this demonstrated that Bellino was “trying to defuse the situation.”

Yet Alvarez continued to pursue Bellino and was eventually shot and killed “right outside Bellino’s house.”

Alvarez’s passenger, who was his girlfriend, showed BCSO detectives her video of the pursuit. WVSN reports that BCSO’s Coleman-Wright said, “[Bellino] was clearly not the aggressor, based on the statements that were taken, the videos that detectives have been able to review.”

Bellino is a concealed carry permit holder.
