Hillary Clinton held a star-studded LGTB fundraiser at the elaborate Capitale restaurant in Manhattan, part of her homecoming tour of New York City.
The fundraiser was closed to the press and the campaign instructed attendees not to take video of the event but some details of the event are emerging on social media.
One clip on Instagram showed Hillary referring to Donald Trump as an “id with hair” — referring to Freud’s description of the part of human personality ruled by unchecked desire.
“I feel like we are watching an id — an id with hair,” she said as the crowd cheered.
One volunteer gushed over Clinton’s performance at the event on Facebook, saying that the former First Lady “was on fire” and “in the rarest form that I’ve seen.”
“Tonight and with that twinkle she gets in her eye, she said she wore her leather jacket for us and the crowd went ballistic!” she wrote. “Ya know, the LGBT community loves Hillary and can’t get enough of her when she has her crazy pants on!”
On Reddit, one LGBT Hillary supporter listed Cynthia Nixon, Rosie O’Donnell, Deborah Messing, Kathryn Najimy, and Star Trek star Zachary Quinto with his partner Miles McMillan as present at the event. Congressman Barney Frank and his partner Jim was also present as well as James Obergefell, the lead plaintiff for the Supreme Court case that legalized gay marriage.
Messing was reportedly tweeting furiously at Susan Sarandon during the event after the famous actress publicly disparaged Clinton.
Other people who were photographed at the event included Sex in The City actress Cynthia Nixon, The Good Wife actor Michael Urie, tennis player Billie Jean King and actor Guillermo Díaz from the show Scandal.
