Hillary: ‘I Am Sympathetic to a Lot of the People Attracted to Trump’s Messages’–Mediaite

During a town hall with YouTube digital content creators tonight, Hillary Clinton was asked what she would say to someone supporting Donald Trump.

“I am sympathetic,” she said, “to a lot of the people attracted to Trump’s messages who are feeling really left out and left behind. They have lost faith in their government, in the economy, certainly in politics and most other institutions.”

Clinton said she also understands “why people are frustrated or even fearful,” but said Trump’s message isn’t the answer.

She said that Trump supporters might not like her because of immigration or trade or jobs. And then she said this: “I am not sympathetic to the xenophobia the misogyny ,the homophobia the Islamophobia, and all the other sort-of dog whistles that Trump uses to create that fervor among a lot of his supporters.”
