CLEVELAND, Ohio — Republican nominee Donald Trump’s eldest daughter Ivanka introduced her father on Thursday night before he took the stage to accept the Republican Party’s nomination for President of the United States, painting her father as “the people’s champion.”
“Through his own sheer force of will, he sacrificed grately to enter the political arena as an outsider,” Ivanka stated about her father, adding that “real change” will only come from outside the political system.
“My father is a fighter,” she added, saying that through the tough primaries, he learned and “became stronger.”
Ivanka explained that she doesn’t identify as a Republican or a Democrat, saying that as a millennial, “more than party affiliation, I [vote] on what I believe is right for my family and for my country.”
“As the proud daughter of your nominee, I am here to tell you that this is the moment and Donald Trump is the person to make America great again,” she touted.
Ivanka humanized her father — although she spoke about his strength, she noted his softer side — pointing to “the kindness and compassion that will enable him to be the leader that this country needs.”
“He is color blind and gender neutral. He hires the best person for the job, period,” she added.
She said at her father’s company, he employs more female executives and pays them equally. “Women represent 46 percent of the total U.S. labor force,” she stated, noting that women haven’t been paid as much as men in America. “As a mother myself of three young children, I know how hard it is to work while raising a family…American families need relief.”
“I will fight for this too right along side of him,” she said with a smile, referencing equal pay and employment for women. The crowd started chanting, “Trump! Trump! Trump!”
“A Trump presidency will turn the economy around,” she promised, saying her father knows the difference in wanting something done and “making it happen.”
“He will fight for you all the time, all the way, every time,” she vowed.
