Donald Trump’s campaign manager Kellyanne Conway shut down Hillary Clinton’s spokesperson Nick Merrill on Twitter when Merrill attempted to defend Clinton’s calling half of Trump supporters a “basket of deplorables.”
As Clinton is faced with backlash for calling half of Trump’s 14.5 million voters a “basket of deplorables…the racist, sexist, homophobic, xenophobic, Islamophobic, you name it,” her spokesperson tried to clean up the damage in a series of tweets on Twitter.
(2/3) Obviously not everyone supporting Trump is part of the alt right, but alt right leaders are with Trump.

(3/3) And their supporters appear to make up half his crowd when you observe the tone of his events.

Conway responded to Merrill’s tweets calling for him to have Clinton apologize and to “talk to real people who aren’t donors.”
Nick, it's simply untrue. Come to an event; talk to real people who aren't donors. Or better: have Hillary apologize https://t.co/DdBFhWgav5
