Eddie Jordan was supposed to save Rutgers basketball from the recent disgrace following the firing of abusive coach Mike Rice. Now, he may have wounded the program even more severely.
Deadspin broke the story on Friday that Eddie Jordan did not receive the degree from Rutgers as claimed in his bio.
Reminiscent of the George O’Leary scandal that rocked the Notre Dame football program, Jordan could face serious ramifications if he claimed the degree on his resume, or if the school requires its coaches to be graduates. The school has not commented on either possibility.
The program would be reeling if it is forced to remove Jordan from the position. It would also be nearly impossible for President Robert Barchi to escape scrutiny for the university’s failure to do due diligence in the hiring process.
