The only way Manti Te’o is going to survive an NFL locker room is if the loudest laughter regarding jokes made about his fake girlfriend is coming from himself. The newly minted San Diego Charger took the first step towards publicly embracing the humor of his misfortune when he attended the Maxim party honoring the “Hot 100” list.
Te’o was a tongue-in-cheek invitee to the celebration, which featured the recognition of the Maxim list that mockingly included Lenay Kekua, the fake girlfriend of the former Notre Dame linebacker.
A second round selection for the Chargers, Te’o was nearly universally acclaimed as a first round selection even though Breitbart Sports placed him much lower. While he may not have the talent level to be a successful starter, the only way that the former Heisman runner up will be able to make a career in the NFL will be if he is able to continue to be able to roll with the punches sure to continue to come.
